Your iPhone may perform great for years, but its lithium-ion battery will not. If your device is a year or two old, its battery will begin to drain faster than usual, or you will have to charge it frequently. Such issues can be solved through iPhone battery replacement. You, however, can push back the date of replacement by doing a few things, to extend the battery’s lifespan.

Here are a few tips to help you make your iPhone battery last longer.

Use Latest Versions of iOS

You should never use an old version of iOS. If you are still using iOS 5 or later, make sure to update it. You can find out about the new release by going to Settings > General > Software Update. In case an update is available, plug your device into a power source to get the new version of iOS, wirelessly. You can also connect your device to your computer and update the operating system using iTunes.

Delete Unused Apps

Some unnecessary third-party apps on your iPhone might be using too much power. Deleting them can boost your device battery life. You can delete the not-needed app by touching and holding it. When you do that, you get the option, “Delete APP.” Tap on it to delete the app.

Adjust Screen Brightness

Brighter screens enable you to read an e-book or watch a movie at night. But, such a screen can make your iPhone battery age more quickly. If you want to slow the rate of its aging, adjust its screen brightness. You can lower it by opening the Control Centre and dragging the Brightness slider to the bottom.

Your iPhone also offers you the auto-brightness option, which adjusts the screen brightness as per the current lighting situation. If there is enough light, the screen will reduce the brightness — saving your battery’s life. To activate this feature, go to: Settings > General > Accessibility > Display Accommodations > Auto-Brightness. You need to set the Auto-Brightness option on.

Activate Low Power Mode

Turn on the low power mode if you do not want to go for iPhone battery replacement in a year’s time. It will make your battery last for the longest time possible, as it stops background activities, including content download. It also disables features such as AirDrop, iCloud sync, and Continuity. The low power mode automatically kicks in when the battery level goes down to 20 percent. You can manually activate it by going to Settings > Battery > Low Power Mode. This mode is on if the battery icon, located in the top-right corner, appears yellow.

Avoid Extreme Temperatures

Batteries are sensitive to temperatures, and extreme temperatures shorten their lives. Your iPhone battery will function best in moderate temperatures. Try not to use your device when the temperature is above 35o C. Also, avoid storing it in extremely hot environments. You will get the best battery life when you use the iPhone in temperatures of 0o to 35O C.

Use Wi-Fi

Do you use both the Wi-Fi connection and mobile data? If yes, then it is best to switch off the mobile data and only use the Wi-Fi. The latter consumes less power compared to mobile data. So, whenever you are using the internet, keep your Wi-Fi on. You can turn it on by going to Settings > Wi‑Fi to access a Wi‑Fi network.

Turn off Location Services

It is best to turn off the location services if you are not using them. They, along with GPS, can use plenty of iPhone battery life. And, you can save the battery life by turning on the location services and GPS only when you need them.

The above steps will enable you to use the original iPhone battery for a long time. And if it is time for replacement, find a service center that can do it effectively and quickly. Also, make sure that its technicians are experienced and well-trained, and have the right tools and genuine Apple battery in its arsenal.

Conclusion

A dead battery does not mean that you have to order a new device. It can be easily replaced. But, it might not be an easy job for you, as the battery inside your iPhone is non-removable. It is best that you find a reputable service centre that is known for iPhone battery replacement. It will do a perfect job. But, before you hand over your device to it, make sure to ask a breakdown of the estimated repair cost.
